v1.1.0 -- August 29, 2016

This is a whole new Remember The Milk for Mac! Okay, you might not see a big difference, but believe us -- it's all new. We've switched from the WebKit/WKWebKit framework built into OS X to a shiny new Chrome-based engine provided by Electron.

Why did we do this, you ask? (Or maybe you didn't ask, in which case... hey! how's it going?)

Well, here are some reasons:

  • Everything's just much faster. You can now scroll a big list of tasks at 60fps because we can use your GPU to draw things. Due to bugs in WebKit, we had to disable this in the old version. Not anymore!
  • We can keep things updated and give you the latest and greatest browsing engine. Any time Google releases a new Chrome, we can release a new Remember The Milk with all the new improvements. With the old version, we were stuck on the built-in version until a new Safari release.
  • Fewer bugs. Yup, Bob's been battling all sorts of issues in WKWebKit. He had to reinvent printing (not supported!), fast offline storage (not supported by default), zooming, geolocation, etc, etc. The list could go on. All these things come for almost free now. No reinventing the wheel. Woohoo!
  • Shared code across platforms. We now have a Windows app and a Linux app. They all work the exact same way and give the best experience possible on each platform. Hooray!
